Chairman’s Update

Apologies for the lack of contact recently but been on my summer hols. Many thanks to Alan Cook et al for organising the duathlon whilst I was away-a quick reminder that it is duathlon this Thursday 6.45-7pm start as the nights are already drawing in-the distance will be a straight 14 mile loop followed by a 2 mile ‘ish’ run tagged on the end-try to support the event as this is the penultimate one.
Following is a  report (CLICK ON LINK TO OPEN UP) completed by Sandy Walster who has recorded her valiant exploits at the recent’Double’ and ‘Triple’ yes I did say ‘Triple’ ironman distance events and did the club and country proud by finishing second-well done on this great achievement from all the club-now I think it’s time for a well earned rest!!

Big Dave Plunkitt is officially 50 next month-I know it is hard to believe due to his boyish good looks and young athletic prowess–sorry Dave but I do not have any pictures of you to validate this to those who dont know you. Anyway to celebrate this great achievement he has asked if anyone would like to join him for a day out at ‘Dalby Forest’-mountain biking with all expenses paid. The date is set for Saturday 2nd September-meeting at Dalby for around 10am-details to follow-if you would like to take Dave up on this generous offer then please e-mail me at gary-thomas1@hotmail.co.uk -we did this as a tri club event a few years ago and most of us who did not fall off had a good time

P.S I must apologise to Steve Race who I mentioned in a recent report ran a fairly ‘steady’ marathon time at the recent outlaw event-what I failed to realise was that he crashed his bike and smashed his arm so a valiant effort here and well done for keeping going!-the excuise has been accepted-maybe time to invest in some stabilizers instead!!
